Abu Hamour is home to Dar AlSalam Mall, with over 100 brands, Carrefour Shopping, and a family fun filled atmosphere. The adventurous can enjoy the Escape Hunt Experience Qatar – and we encourage you to do so! The creative challenges are set in Qatar and add a little fun into the Doha experience.
Life in Abu Hamour
Abu Hamour is a family friendly district with majority real estate being compound living. There are many schools in Abu Hamour such as Al Jazeera Academy, Doha British School, Doha College, and more. Al Fardan Gardens are spread around the area, with family villa compounds. The fish and meat market is a great place to stock up for a sunny barbecue in beautiful Qatar weather – but living too close could mean smelly hot summer days.
A family-first community, home to Al Fardan Gardens, and a good list of schools.
Abu Hamour Nearby Hotels
A three minute walk to a private beach, the Doha Marriott has some of the most beautiful views of the Arabian Gulf. A massage at the spa followed by a dip in the whirlpool seems like the perfect morning routine for guests. Guests have called it a decent accommodation in a preferred location.
Restaurants in Abu Hamour
Abu Hamour has a few hidden gems, here are our top three.
Based out of Dubai, the classic fairytale design of Shakespeare & Co. brings sophistication and a dreamlike feel to your dining experience. Try the all day breakfast, pasta dishes, or a main course meal – the menu is full of options. Vegetarian dishes include Vegetarian Curry and Aubergine & Parmigiana. Sahtain!
Another hidden gem in the city! Park up front and don’t go inside. A waiter will be with you shortly to take your order, and bring it right out to the car. You can call it a ‘park-in’ service type restaurant – dishing out charcoal grilled shawarma you’ll devour in the comfort of your car.
Word is, the price is a bit high for the amount of food served. That aside, if you want to try some street style inspired Indian food, this is your calling. It’s street food given a facelift, having done a great job with ambiance and presentation. Not to mention, the ‘chaats’ and ‘pakoras’ are a must try!
Abu Hamour is not your ideal luxury destination, but it wouldn’t be fair to put it off as ‘not going to visit’ in Qatar. You could argue Doha is a fairly new city, so neighbourhoods like this one bring a little subtly to all the glamour.
